Celtics Stage Comeback to Take 3-0 Series Lead Over Pacers

Indiana Pacers – Boston Celtics : 111-114

Boston leads the series 3-0

The Pacers may have really missed their chance by losing Game 1 when they had a 3-point lead with 30 seconds remaining. Nothing has worked for them since. And even an 18-point lead was not enough to win in Game 3. The Celtics recovered their handicap in the final minutes to finally win for the third time in as many games.

Excellent during the first two matches, Jrue Holiday stood out again by being at the conclusion of Boston’s comeback. The veteran converted a three-pointer to take the lead 38 seconds from time and then stole a ball moments later to ensure his team’s success. He finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

Indiana played without its All-Star leader Tyrese Haliburton but Rick Carlisle’s men made a good impression throughout the match. Andrew Nembhard raised his level of play and scored 32 points, a career high. TJ McConnell scored 23 points off the bench while Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner added 22 each. But that didn’t stop the Pacers from suffering their first home defeat.

However, they led by 18 points twice: during the second and third quarters. There was even still an 8 length lead in their favor 3 minutes from the buzzer (107-99). Boston then went on a 13-2 run to put itself in control. Jayson Tatum didn’t come far from the triple-double (36 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists) and Al Horford scored 7 three-point baskets (23 points in total).

The Celtics, already finalists in 2022, will seek to validate their ticket to the finals during Game 4, where they could find Kristaps Porzingis.
