CCBM Facing Must-Win Situation After Tough Loss in N1 Playoffs Quarterfinals

At the end of a huge standoff, the CCBM folded this Friday evening in Saint-Vallier, in the quarter-final first leg of the N1 play-offs (88-84). He now no longer has the right to make mistakes.

Back against the wall. Beaten this Friday evening in Saint-Vallier (88-84), at the end of a breathtaking mano a mano, the C’Chartres Basket Masculin now has no choice: to reach the last four of the play-offs, it will have to win twice at the Colosseum next week.

Undecided until the end

Facing a team that it had beaten twice in the senior group, the CCBM often raced behind in the first period, but never very far, two or three units at most. At the break, in a very offensive and extremely close match, the two teams were back to back (44-44), Chartres compensating for its timidity on the rebound with its good defense (12 opposing ball losses).

C’Chartres Basket Masculin attacks the quarter-finals of the play-offs in Saint-Vallier, this Friday, May 10

The SVBD, carried offensively by the trio Ferguson (18 pts), Ateba (19 pts) and Ramseyer (17 pts), but also by the enormous activity of Cazenobe (13 pts, 12 rebounds, 26 ratings), resumed the lead at the start of the second half, and had a lead of up to six points (63-57, 27′).

But Chartres didn’t give up, and took the lead again in the fourth quarter (73-74, 34′), led by Fortas (16 pts) and Kouamé (9 pts, 8 rebounds). Finally, the last word went to Saint-Valler, victorious by forceps and who took advantage of an unsportsmanlike whistle whistled at Ofurum in the money-time.

The series will now return to Chartres, with the return match scheduled for next Friday at the Coliseum, and a possible good one two days later. The CCBM no longer has the right to make mistakes…
