Catalunya MotoGP statistics 2024 in Barcelona

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Two weeks after the French MotoGP was held at the iconic Le Mans Circuit, now the international motor racing event is ready to continue its sixth round on another track in Spain through the Catalunya MotoGP which will be held at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, this weekend.

First included in the calendar in 1992, this is the 33rd consecutive year that the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit has hosted the Grand Prix.

This circuit is behind the Dutch TT Assen Circuit and the Spanish Jerez Circuit which have hosted MotoGP 72 times and 39 times respectively.

There are a number of interesting facts from the Catalunya GP. Valentino Rossi (2006/Yamaha) and Jorge Lorenzo (2010/Yamaha and 2018/Ducati) are the two racers who won the MotoGP race in Catalunya from pole position.

In addition, 2020 is the first time that Spain has not had at least one winner at the Catalunya GP since 2002. There has been at least one Spanish rider on the podium in a MotoGP race since 2007, except in 2021.

There have been 11 recorded wins for Spanish racers in the Catalunya premier class. There are Alex Criville (1995 and 1999), Carlos Checa (1996), Dani Pedrosa (2008), Jorge Lorenzo (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018), and Marc Marquez (2014 and 2019).

Yamaha is the most successful manufacturer at the Catalunya-Barcelona Circuit, with 14 wins. Behind him is another Japanese manufacturer, Honda, with 11 wins.

However, the last victory recorded by Yamaha was in 2022 through Fabio Quartararo. Even with Honda, who last won in Barcelona in 2019 with Marc Marquez.

Meanwhile, the 2024 MotoGP standings are still led by Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac) with 129 points. Lurking behind him are Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo), Marquez (Gresini Racing), and Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo) with 91, 89, and 89 points respectively.

On the other hand, the first day of the Catalunya MotoGP is Friday (24/5) at 15.30 WIB and 20.00 WIB for the free practice session.

Then on Saturday (25/5) there will be a second free practice session (15.00 WIB), qualifying (16.00 WIB), and Sprint (20.00 WIB).

Meanwhile, the main race of the Catalunya MotoGP will start on Sunday (26/5) at 19.00 WIB.
