Bundesliga Tuchel ponders the ideal coach and the “emperor” saying

What kind of coach does FC Bayern need? For Thomas Tuchel this is not a question of style. “The club stands for winning.” He received many requests for tickets again for his last home game.
What kind of coach does FC Bayern need after Thomas Tuchel? An innovator? A keeper? “That’s really a philosophical question,” Tuchel answered thoughtfully before his last home game as Bayern coach this evening against VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. Is there actually the ideal Bayern coach?
In any case, Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl, together with sports director Christoph Freund, is looking for several rejections from prominent candidates such as Leverkusen’s master coach Xabi Alonso, national coach Julian Nagelsmann, who preferred to extend his contract with the DFB, and Austria’s national coach Ralf Rangnick under increasing pressure to deliver.
In Munich, the return of triple winner and former national coach Hansi Flick is now being hotly discussed. From Tuchel’s point of view, it would at least fulfill the most important condition. The 59-year-old Flick won seven titles with Bayern in just one and a half years.
Victories and titles count in Munich: it suits Flick
“I don’t know whether Bayern have always defined themselves by a style,” said Tuchel, who at the end of the season after just 15 months joined the ranks of well-known head coaches who left the German record champions before the agreed end of their contract. For him, Bayern have always been defined by the result and the title. “I knew throughout my entire childhood and youth, no matter how the game went, Bayern would win in the end,” recalled the Gladbach fan at the time. “The club stands for winning, for something core, for mia san mia.” This could be achieved with different coaching styles.
Tuchel looked forward to his farewell game in front of 75,000 spectators in the Allianz Arena at home without any particular expectations. He didn’t know how emotional it would be for him because he was still dealing with missing the Champions League final in the dramatic 1-2 loss against Real Madrid.
“I don’t know how this will affect me. I’ll let it happen to me. I’ve had a lot of requests for tickets again from family, friends and family. Actually, I’m ignoring it and concentrating on the sport.”
Last home game: “Let’s go and play football”
Tuchel would like to say goodbye with two wins against Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim and the runner-up. He doesn’t want to show that it doesn’t matter to him now because there’s no longer any title. “You just can’t let yourself down, even if it were a human reflex. It’s my job not to give any signs of it.”
His speech before the penultimate game as Bayern coach will therefore not be like “the legendary Franz Beckenbauer saying”. The world champion coach and Munich football “emperor”, who died at the beginning of the year, once said casually in Bavarian to his players before kick-off: “Let’s go and play football!”
