Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt secures a 1-1 draw in Gladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s relegation worries have disappeared after a long period of trepidation. In the 1:1 (1:1) in the 100th Bundesliga duel with Eintracht Frankfurt, the “Foals” showed a committed performance and benefited decisively from 1. FC Cologne’s victory against Union Berlin.

The Gladbachers didn’t really know how to take advantage of their early lead thanks to Robin Hack’s tenth goal of the season (9th). Frankfurt got stronger and got a deserved equalizer through junior Dina Ebimbe (35th). Frankfurt can also plan internationally for the coming season: the Hessians are already in sixth place before the duel with RB Leipzig next Saturday.

Borussia got off to a better start in the last home game of the two club icons Patrick Herrmann and Tony Jantschke and were rewarded with Hack’s easy goal. Joe Scally had plenty of space on the left wing after a long drive from Jonas Omlin, who had returned to the starting line-up. Hack exploited the low cross into the back of the defense with a placed low shot into the bottom left corner from 15 meters.

As a result, Eintracht got into the game better, largely took control and had their first good chances to score. Hugo Ekitike (20th) entered the penalty area after dribbling from the right, but instead of looking for a better-positioned teammate, the Frenchman only lofted the ball into the side netting from close range. Shortly afterwards, a free kick cross from Fares Chaibi (26th) flew untouched just to the top right.

“We know what it’s about today,” Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane said on Sky before the game. His team also seemed to know this, as they were much more aggressive in the duels than the Frankfurt team. However, the final determination was missing when moving forward. Hack (35th) failed with a weak finish from a good position against Kevin Trapp.

Almost in return, Dina Ebimbe (36th) scored the deserved equalizer after a one-two with compatriot Ekitike in the penalty area. After the break, the Hessians started powerfully, but missed the quick lead through Ekitike (49th) and Chaibi (50th).

Seoane didn’t like his team’s passivity; he brought on, among others, Tomas Cvancara (58′), who had a chance to take the lead immediately after his substitution, but shot wide to the right.
