San Marino Baseball’s afternoon defeat was condensed into three swings of the bat. Three three-pointers, for nine total scores that launch BSC Grosseto towards their first victory of the season and San Marino towards their second defeat. More valid serves (9 to 8) but fewer points scored (5 to 10) for a match that always saw the home team in the lead.
THE NEWS. Bsc had the opportunity to take the lead in the 1st inning when, after singles by Aloma and Giordani, a shooting error by the defense made it 1-0. In the 2nd the Maremma team fills the cushions with Tiberi (single), Function (base ball) and Sellaroli (hit), with the subsequent double to the left by Aloma to bring in the three points of 4-0. After 8 consecutive outs to start the game, San Marino gets on base in the 3rd with Lorenzo Di Raffaele (wild pitch on the strikeout), with Tromp taking the base ball immediately after and Diaz hitting the single to make it 1-4. It’s a great moment and Batista loads the bases with a single, but Alvarez is thrown out at the plate and the inning ends. The 4th inning also ended with the bases full (Tromp F8), while in the 5th there was Alvarez’s two-run home run which reduced the distance between the two teams (3-4). At the change of ends, Mercuri’s bases-full double meant 7-3 Grosseto, with San Marino scoring in the 6th with runs from Tromp and Batista and the hosts replying for the final 10-5 with a three-run home run from Jordans.
