At least medically, nothing stands in the way of Bronny James having an NBA career. As “ESPN” reports, the 19-year-old received official approval from the relevant committee to play in the North American professional league.

Accordingly, all three experts carried out a medical evaluation of LeBron James’ son and unanimously came to the conclusion that he should be allowed to play. This means that nothing stands in the way of taking part in the Pre-Draft Combine this week.

James collapsed with a heart attack during USC Trojans practice in July 2023. A heart defect was later diagnosed, which was repaired with surgery. After months of rehab, he played what was expected to be a mixed college season.

Nevertheless, James declared for the draft, but kept the option open to play another year in college. For this purpose, he already entered the transfer portal in order to find another team for a possible second year.

He must make a final decision about whether to participate in the draft or stay in college by May 29th. The draft itself will take place on June 26th and 27th.

There is now a certain amount of controversy surrounding James’ actual height. At the 2024 Draft Combine this was given as 1.80 meters.

This makes him a good eight centimeters smaller than the official information on the USC Trojans website. This is reported by the “Daily Mail”, among others.

Controversy surrounding James’ actual height

The report argues that he may have been measured with shoes on at the USC Trojans, while the standard measurement at the Draft Combine is without basketball shoes.

Either way, the 1.80 meter tall point guard would be one of the average smaller players at his position in the NBA.

If James decides to make an immediate move to the NBA, his future team could also have an impact on father LeBron’s future. The four-time MVP emphasized that he would like to play with his son one day.

After the first round exit in the playoffs with the Los Angeles Lakers against the Denver Nuggets, the 39-year-old left his future career open. In the summer of 2024, James will take part in the Olympic Games in Paris with the USA.
