Brest-Reims (1-1): the Bretons concede a draw and remain within reach of Lille in the race for Europe

Stade Brestois was deprived of three of its major elements: Romain Del Castillo, Pierre Lees-Melou and Kamory Doumbia. This Friday evening against Reims, they perhaps missed him to obtain more than a draw (1-1), in his Francis-Le Blé stadium, during the 33rd day of Ligue 1.

Before the last day of the championship, next week, the Brestois, third, remain in the sights of Lille, fourth in the standings with three points behind Éric Roy’s team. The Northerners can make up for this deficit on Sunday against Nantes. Third place represents a definite advantage, since it allows direct qualification for the Champions League next season, without going through the preliminary round.

Francis-Le Blé gave everything

In the first period, Brest had possession, but it was the Rémois who were the most dangerous. To the point of opening the scoring, thanks to Marshall Munetsi, scorer with a header (26th, 1-0). Supported by its supporters, Stade Brestois still had the resources to equalize. At the very end of the first period, his defender Lilian Brassier converted with his head a perfect cross from Kenny Lala.

For the Bretons’ last home match this season, the fans gave everything. Before the match, a magnificent tifo was deployed, on which the Champions League was represented off the coast of Finistère. A procession of more than 2,000 supporters had also traveled up the city to the Francis-Le Blé stadium at the end of the afternoon.
