Boulazac Basket Dordogne Prepares for Pro B Play-offs: A Look at Potential Quarter-final Opponents

Alea jacta is, or almost, as Jules would say. Boulazac Basket Dordogne and its managers can start reserving hotels. They know what awaits them for the next Pro B play-offs.

Whether it finishes third or fourth, depending on its result in Orléans on Saturday May 4, the BBD will face the sixth or fifth in the quarter-finals. With home advantage.

It will be Rouen (5th) or Châlons/Reims (6th). After the first leg, Thursday May 16, Boulazac will travel to Normandy or Champagne for their quarter-final return, Sunday May 19. The eventual belle will take place in Boulazac, Wednesday May 22.

There was a slim possibility that the quarter-final opponent could be Poitiers. But, Friday May 3, Andrew Thornton-Jones’ players lost the return match (78-80) and the particular point average (77-78 in the first leg) against Pau/Lacq/Orthez (78-80). . They can only be eighth at best.

Châlons/Reims force 9

In the fight for fifth place, Rouen’s heavy setback at home against Lille (70-90) allowed Châlons/Reims to return to a tie (19 wins, 14 losses). The Champenois of Thomas Andrieux pulverized the runner-up Vichy (100-77). Which constitutes their ninth consecutive victory.

But they remain behind Rouen with one match remaining in the regular season because, on December 1, they lost at home to the Normans (83-87).

And so, what does the calendar offer, Friday May 3 for the last day? While Boulazac will be in Antibes (which has a very small chance of finishing eighth), Rouen will host Châlons/Reims.

“We have less good memories with Châlons/Reims, that’s for sure,” smiles Alexandre Ménard. His BBD lost at the Palio against Thomas Andrieux’s men (70-78), after winning in the first leg, mid-December (79-82). Rouen, on the other hand, gave in twice against the Périgourdins (88-91 then 90-69).
