Beerschot’s Future Secure as United World Confirms Commitment at Shareholders’ Meeting

The uncertainty surrounding the future of Beerschot, newcomer in the Jupiler Pro League, has disappeared. United World confirmed its commitment at a shareholders’ meeting. A sale of the club is no longer an option.

The fans, the board and the players of Beerschot have been held in a grip in recent months by main shareholder United World. Would the Saudi investment group sell the club or not?

Even after Beerschot’s promotion to the Jupiler Pro League, the uncertainty remained. Until United World made it clear at the shareholders’ meeting that it would not drop the club.

“A possible sale is off the table,” we read in the report of the meeting on the club website.

In fact, United World seems to be even more committed (financially) now that Beerschot is playing at the highest level again. “The budget included in our license file has been made more efficient in order to meet the challenge of the JPL.”

In addition, a number of other investments are being made: two artificial grass fields at the youth site in Wilrijk and the start of the construction of a new youth complex. “The latter is an absolute top priority.”

“The approval of this budget means that the club’s financial situation will become more stable.” Beerschot points out that some of the debts can be reduced more quickly, which should make the club healthier in the longer term.

After which it concludes: “The shareholders are aware of the difficulties of the past season, but are also focused on the future.”
