On Friday evening, May 17th, the management of the Women’s Basketball Bundesliga (DBBL) announced that exactly this scenario had occurred: Due to the withdrawal of the two sports newcomers from the 2nd league – the two finalists Hurricanes Rotenburg/Scheeßel and TSV Wasserburg – “two free participation rights for the 2024/25 season” for the 1st league can currently be awarded using a so-called “wild card”.
