Bayern confirms the absence of Guerreiro, injured in the left foot

Bayern Munich confirmed on Sunday the absence of its Portuguese international Raphaël Guerreiro, injured in the left foot on Saturday in Stuttgart, for the semi-final return of the Champions League on Wednesday in Madrid against Real (first leg: 2-2).

The Munich club does not give a precise duration of unavailability for Raphaël Guerreiro, citing an absence “for future meetings” of Bayern, who still have three or four matches to play until the end of the season (the semi-second leg of C1, two Bundesliga matches and the possible Champions League final on June 1 at Wembley). A defensive player on the left side (in defense or in midfield), Guerreiro, 30, is hit at “ligaments and capsule” of the left foot. He was injured while blocking a shot on Saturday and left Stuttgart’s Neckar Stadion on crutches. He is now launched into a race against time for his presence at Euro-2024 (June 14-July 14) with the Portuguese selection.

The Munich residents lost 3 to 1 against Stuttgart, their minds already turned towards the C1 semi-final return against Real Madrid in Spain on Wednesday (9:00 p.m.), after the draw (2-2) at the Allianz Arena . During the championship day preceding the first leg, Dutch international defender Matthijs de Ligt was injured with Bayern against Frankfurt and had to abandon the match in Munich three days later, forcing Thomas Tuchel to line up Kim Min-jae in central defense, at fault on the two goals conceded by the Munich residents.
