Basketball Ragusa, it’s playoff time for Virtus

It’s playoff time: tomorrow at PalaPadua, 7pm, Virtus Ragusa faces Svincolati Milazzo in game 1 of the quarter-finals. Coach Recupido’s team, which closed the clock phase in second position (but on equal points with leaders Capo d’Orlando) will be able to benefit from the field factor at least until the semi-final. He has already played twice with Milazzo in this Interregional Serie B championship, winning both matches played in the first phase.

Even if, for the coach, everything is reset: “It’s a completely different world compared to the two matches in the group – comments Recupido on the eve – Milazzo already had a good structure in the pre-season, they were coming off a winning season, they had difficulties due to injuries, but in the last period they have found the right place. They play good basketball, it’s an experienced team, very disciplined and tactically smart. But we also have important arrows and we are a quality roster. The matches – explains Recupido – must be approached with great attention and respect for the qualities of the opponents”.

Virtus is not at all satisfied with the very positive first part of the season. “Now we start again from scratch. So far we have done well, but it doesn’t matter anymore – says Recupido -. The playoffs have a different emotionality and physicality and therefore you have to be good at adapting to the pace and intensity of the games and what the referees will grant. I expect very tough challenges, therefore the management of important moments will have to be more careful, with much more tranquility. We bring with us a wealth of experience accumulated over the course of the season.” Game-1 against Milazzo will be directed by Mr. Leggiero from San Tammaro (Caserta) and Puglisi from Acicatena (Catania). The match will also be broadcast live on the website www.virtusragusabasket.it at a cost of three euros. Race-2 is scheduled for Sunday 12th at the PalaMilone in Milazzo. The eventual “match” will be played at PalaPadua on Wednesday 15th.
