Luis Ángel Flores Calvo, candidate for the municipal presidency of Rayón for the Chiapas Unidos Party, was injured by two gunshot wounds that occurred last Monday night on the Rayón-Pantepec highway section in Chiapas, as confirmed by Conrado Cifuentes Astudillo, state president of that political institute.
Cifuentes Astudillo pointed out that the events occurred on Monday night when the candidate along with his supporters returned from carrying out proselytizing activities in the communities.
Luis Ángel Flores Calvo was intercepted by an armed and hooded man aboard a motorcycle and although he tried to evade the person who was stalking him, he was hit by bullet wounds.
He commented that he had two holes caused by a firearm, so he was immediately transferred to the health clinic in the neighboring municipality of Tapilula and until this morning the information from his relatives indicates that his life is apparently not in danger, but he is still under observation.
The Chiapas Unidos Party candidate was accompanied by one more person, who was also wounded by a bullet in one of the legs; However, in the next few hours they will report to the corresponding authorities and request the security protocol for the candidate.
Meanwhile, the president of the political party emphasized that during this electoral contest, six candidates from that party have requested a security protocol but have only granted it so far to the candidate for mayor of Benemérito de las Américas, after the attack he suffered where his son and a council candidate lost their lives, and two candidates from the Chiapas Unidos party stopped their campaign and are no longer seeking office.
