Italia – Como’s successful promotion to Serie A in 1907 caught the attention of football fans in the country. Because, there is the role of rich Indonesian people, Robert Budi Hartono and Michael Bambang Hartono.
The boss of the Djarum Group has been listed as the owner of Como since April 2019. They were able to bring Como, which was almost bankrupt, crawling from Serie D, aka Italy’s fourth caste, until finally being able to promote to Serie A.
Apart from the Hartono brothers, there are other figures who have contributed to Como’s success. None other than two Arsenal legends, Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas and Henry are listed as minority shareholders in Como. Fabregas was listed as a Como player in the 2022/23 season, before finally hanging up his boots as a professional player.
On 1 July 2023, Fabregas was appointed as coach of Como U-19 and Como B. Furthermore, on 13 November 2023, he served as interim coach replacing Moreno Longo who was fired.
Fabregas received a one-month dispensation as head coach of Como because he did not have a UEFA Pro license. On 20 December 2023, Osian Roberts became Como coach, while Fabregas remained as assistant coach.
In the midst of the joy felt by all parties in Como 1907, Fabregas still gave advice to his players.
Fabregas reminded the Como 1907 players to prepare themselves even stronger. Because, they will compete in a more prestigious event next season, where strong opponents are waiting.
“First, congratulations. You are really having a winning season. I know today we didn’t finish the match the way we wanted by winning. Tomorrow training at 10.00,” said Fabregas, as quoted from a video uploaded by the official Como 1907 Instagram account.
“But, one thing I have to say before we go out there with the fans, thank you, be strong, because this year is nothing. This is just a warm-up. Next season must be more efficient, work more,” stressed the former Arsenal player , Barcelona and Chelsea.
