Another legal setback to the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Conade). High diver Sergio Guzmán obtained the protection and protection of federal justice against the institution directed by Ana Guevara, which has denied him the scholarship since last year, citing legal problems and the federation’s lack of knowledge of him.

Luis Jiménez, the athlete’s lawyer, reported on the ruling and explained that the selected player must receive the sports scholarship from his participation in the Fukuoka 2023 World Championship.

Conade is requesting requirements that are impossible to achieve for athletes and that is the pretext for not granting them incentives; The judge reviewed the case and determined that Sergio has the right to receive the money, the jurist explained.

In the San Salvador-Paris Olympic cycle, Guevara’s administration has celebrated historic results in disciplines such as diving and archery; However, the merits of athletes have sometimes taken a backseat due to the legal conflicts faced by some federations.

On my part there is a lot of sensitivity in this type of case, it represents an act of solidarity towards them. Conade has told us that we take advantage of the situation, but it is absurd because no one can have a benefit in cases like this.

Jiménez highlighted the importance of defending athletes, mainly in times like these, when they are about to participate in the Olympic Games.

It is important that they know that there are instances that can defend them from injustice, that their rights should not be violated. They compete without support, mistreated even in their image, denigrated. It is ridiculous to hear how the authorities express themselves, when thanks to them they have work.

Guzmán is currently in Greece, where he will compete in the Red Bull World Series. In Fukuoka he obtained tenth place, which earned him a scholarship of 14 thousand pesos per month, an amount that is in accordance with the operating rules of Conade itself.

In the Doha World Cup this year he took sixth place, earning 19 thousand pesos. The sports organization has 10 days to challenge the judge’s decision.

Since he is not as much of a media athlete as others, the achievement is of greater significance. In this case, paying the scholarship is really essential and vital to be able to survive, because he has no other income. This athlete was not even able to pay my professional fees, which is why I have done his defense pro-bono in order for justice to be done.

Before Guzmán, divers Gabriela Agúndez, Jahir Ocampo, the artistic swimming team (2) and Adriana Jiménez, high jumpers, also won lawsuits before Conade.

I have more than 20 complaints about aquatic activities, all of them are pending. We cannot know how long it will take to resolve them, because there are 17 courts and they work differently. I think that at the end of the month we could have good news, he concluded.

Selected individuals such as Alejandra Orozco, Randal Willars, Kevin Berlin and swimmers Miguel de Lara and María José Coco are some of the athletes with ongoing processes.
