In this story we want to tell you about the incredible journey of the AMC 98 Ultras and their gazebo in this 2023-24 football year.
AMC 98 plays in the Promozione Umbra Girone B championship and is the team from the Acquasparta-Montecastrilli-Casteltodino district in the hills of the province of Terni.
It is followed and supported by a group of ultras, now called “Gli amici di Lucone”, a handful of boys plus a gazebo, led since 2008 by their leader and point of reference Aldo.
They are proud in every field of professing the values of cheering, the deepest ones, made up of belonging to the territory, attention to civil dynamics, aggregation, sociability, solidarity ethics and, above all, unconditional support for the team which, after the victory on the first day, he put together an incredible series of draws and defeats, 13.
And they are proud to have the magical red gazebo with them always to protect them on every rainy Sunday and in every collective pre-match lunch.
They are proud of all this even after another negative streak of 7 games for their team (6 defeats, 1 draw) because they are finally able to convey to the players and the coach their courage, their attachment, their desire to write together with all components a memorable page.
In this regard, the confrontation under the Curva Sud of the “Finistauri” at the end of the humiliating 1-4 defeat against Clitunno is eloquent.
On the last day, with just 23 points, the team achieved the unexpected play-out with a home draw against the renowned Foligno Calcio.
In the meantime, “Gli amici di Lucone” form relationships of friendship and loyalty at various stages: with the Ultras Bastiai bevanatii Loose Dogs of Foligno, the Ultras San Venanzo and they are alongside the Canarini of Rocca di Papa (Lazio First Category) in the decisive match for their promotion.
The epilogue of the championship will make history: in the play-out on the Vis Foligno field, AMC 98 saves itself by scoring in the 120th minute with one of its sons who grew up consistently in the youth sector and, above all, with the decisive contribution alongside of tens of Friends of Lucone who already during the last training session before this match, presenting themselves full of hope, of the desire to save themselves, of smoke bombs and bombs, had sung to the team how much they believed in it.
The celebration of the whole team at the goal and at the final whistle under the away section, with the throwing of the shirts, the manager’s run full of gratitude towards his fans, the tears of the sporting director, the photo of the team-managers together ultras, the procession returning to Acquasparta, the celebrations in the square, the dinner, the video and the fireworks of the final party will remain indelible in everyone’s hearts.
