Alison Bauer and Christian Struck Shine in German Judo Championships

Bauer from Obernburg, who competed for SG Eltmann, was able to counter Harlof from Hamburg in her first encounter and defeat her in a hold.

In her second encounter, she had to admit defeat to Egger from North Rhine-Westphalia. This meant she reached the semi-finals against Vienna from Bottrop, who swept her off the mat with a counterattack after 30 seconds and catapulted her into the final. The Obernburg native had a hard time against her long-time rival Aylin Mill from Sindelfingen and ran into a hip throw that put her on the ground. A hold from the Sindelfingen native gave Alison Bauer the German runner-up title.

Christian Struck from DJK Aschaffenburg lost the opening match in the 100 kg category against his Bundesliga colleague from Holten. A lever approach put him in a hold. After a consolation round win, he played against Kaloyan from Lower Saxony for a place in the small final. The man from Lower Saxony stepped forward with a hip throw and threw the man from Aschaffenburg with a left hip throw, which meant seventh place for Struck.

On Sunday, both of them competed in the German mixed team competition of the regional associations. The Bavarian team won its quarter-final match against Brandenburg 4:3, in which neither of the Lower Franconians were used. In the semi-final, Alison Bauer beat Hamburg’s Harlof with a Harai Goshi after 36 seconds. Christian Struck had to admit defeat to Hamburg’s Heckel, and so the score was 3:3 after six matches. A playoff was drawn, which started with the golden score. Struck won, who had better control of the Hamburg player. A moment of carelessness by the Aschaffenburg player put Hamburg in the final. In the final, NRW beat Hamburg 4:0 and became German champions.

In the small final, the Bavarians, without Untermain participation, defeated the Badeners 4:2 and won the bronze medal.
