Alex Caruso Wins NBA’s Most Combative Player Award in 2023-24

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso won the NBA’s Most Combative Player award in 2023-24.

Named Hustle Awardthis trophy rewards a player who demonstrates considerable effort on the field and who does work that is not necessarily seen on the scoresheet at the end of a match.

In the voting, Caruso beat Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors, Brandon Podziemski of the Goldon State Warriors and Quebecer Luguentz Dort of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Long considered among the hardest-working players in the NBA, Caruso was one of nine NBA players to maintain a per-game average of at least one blocked shot and one steal.

The 30-year-old Caruso was named to the top defensive team in 2022-23 and is expected to be on one of the two defensive all-star rosters again this year. These teams will be announced later this month.

For his part, Dort stood out greatly on the best team in the West in his fifth season in the NBA. At 24 years old, the Montrealer was one of the veterans of the youngest team in the Silver circuit.

Dort had at least 10 points (10.9) per game for the fourth straight season. His defensive work against the best opposing players was recognized by several experts during the campaign.

Marcus Smart had won the trophy for the last two seasons. However, he was ineligible to defend his title this season after missing too many matches due to injuries.
