‘Ajax and Feyenoord will compete for Hutchinson’s signature’

Ajax is betting on the arrival of Omari Hutchinson, Voetbal International wrote on Tuesday evening. The Chelsea attacker spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town and can now take the next step in his career. Chelsea would be open to letting the youngster – who is still under contract until mid-2025 – leave.

However, the Amsterdam team is by no means the only party interested in the twenty-year-old Jamaican. In fact, Ajax can count on competition from the Netherlands. In addition to the record champion, Feyenoord also hopes for the arrival of Hutchinson. ‘According to sources in England, Feyenoord currently has the slightly better credentials’, it can even be read.

That’s not all, because Hutchinson also seems to be able to make the transition to the Bundesliga. From our eastern neighbors, VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in the services of the right winger, who can also play as a left winger and attacking midfielder.

Hutchinson was born in England, but plays for the Jamaica national team. To date, he has made two appearances for the country from North America. His debut dates from more than a year ago, when he played against Trinidad and Tobago on March 12, 2023. Three days later he played another international match with Jamaica against that opponent, but after this he did not play for the national team again.

Hutchinson career

The left-footer played in Charlton Athletic’s youth academy between 2012 and 2014, after which he switched to Arsenal’s academy. He went through several youth teams, after which Chelsea picked him up on a free transfer in the summer of 2022. He played a season for the London club’s Under 21 team before spending the current season on loan at Championship club Ipswich Town.

Hutchinson has impressed in England’s second tier this season. In competition alone he made 44 appearances, in which he was involved in sixteen goals. In the League Cup he even scored in a 3-2 win over Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ultimately, Hutchinson and his colleagues managed to gain promotion to the Premier League, because the club finished second in the Championship.

Feyenoord already reported to Chelsea

Now that the season is over, the attacker will in principle return to Chelsea. However, that club is open to letting Hutchinson leave London on a permanent basis. After all, Chelsea wants to get a large number of players off the payroll. It is not yet known to what extent Ajax has already reported to Chelsea, but Feyenoord already did so. The Rotterdammers hope to buy the winger. If Ajax, which reportedly has ten million euros on the shelf for a ‘type of Antony’, wants the same, it seems that they will have to take action soon.
