AFL celebrates its tenth anniversary with an evening in which several fighters who have passed through the UFC will participate

Next Saturday, May 25, the Spanish AFL promoter will celebrate its tenth anniversary. They will do so with an event that will take place at the Palau Olímpic in Badalona and in which several fighters who have passed through the UFC and Bellator will be present.

Among them will be the Brazilian Yan Cabral, who was in the UFC between 2013 and 2016. This will be the last fight for the Rio native, who has a very good record of 13-3 in MMA. He will have another veteran in front of him, the Colombian Mauricio Otalora.

Beyond this main event, the AFL 10th anniversary will feature Abner Lloveras. The Catalan fighter, therefore, returns to fight at home after doing so in some of the best leagues in the world, such as the UFC or Bellator. Lloveras will compete with the Italian Leonardo Damiani, who participated in Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021. The presence of the Barcelonan will be special, since he was present in AFL 1.

On the other hand, in this event we will be able to see Daniel Requeijo, one of the Spanish fighters with the greatest experience in Spanish MMA, fight again. Requeijo holds the AFL featherweight belt although, this time, he will compete at bantamweight. His rival will be Marco Beltrán, a fighter with six fights in the UFC, one of them with Deiveson Figueiredo and another with Chito Vera. The winner will take the bantamweight belt.

Beyond the UFC, events like the AFL give us the opportunity to see fighters of certain prestige fight and those who are pushing from behind. Athletes like Joel Álvarez, Dani Bárez or Ilia Topuria started in these leagues. Without them everything else would hardly exist.
