Ademola Lookman leads Atalanta to Europa League victory with hat-trick

Atalanta won the Europa League in an unprecedented way in their first final in European competitions and had 26-year-old Nigerian Ademola Lookman as their great hero. The striker scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen and was the first player to score three goals in a final of European football’s second biggest club competition.

“It was one of the best nights of my life. Great team performance, we did it, we did it, we did it! I don’t have much else to say, but yes, fantastic!”, said the striker in a quick interview with ‘TNT Sports’.

In the current season, Lookman had already lost the African Cup of Nations title with the Nigeria team’s defeat to Ivory Coast, in addition to seeing the Italian Cup trophy slip away with the defeat to Juventus. But, on the third attempt, the striker was lit up on the field and was the big name in the 2023/24 Europa League decision.

“They always say the third time is for good, so it was like that for us today. I’m just happy we won. We won today, so yes, very pleased. We have to celebrate, we made history today, 100%!
