Full aisles, thunderous applause, special jerseys or the anthem of his beloved Barcelona. More than a thousand spectators paid tribute to the deceased footballer Jakub Pospíšil on Saturday morning. His teammates from MSK Břeclav, who played in jerseys with Kuba’s number 10 and the name Pospa, defeated Židenice 17:1.

However, in Saturday’s competition of the twenty-third round of the regional championship for younger pupils, more than the result was at stake. “Kuba always wanted to play in a packed arena and in front of the stormy backdrop of the stands,” the Břeclav club stated on its website.
And that’s exactly what happened. Among the thousands of spectators were also crowds of competing clubs. Football players from Bohunice, Hrušek, Hodonín, Mutěnice and other teams from all over South Moravia came in large numbers. This time they left the rivalry aside and participated in the unforgettable atmosphere of Saturday’s memorial match.

In front of the Břeclav Slovan stadium, people lit candles, friends left football cards, scarves or signed balls with a dedication.
At the entrance, a edited video was playing on a large television, reminding of Jakub’s great football skills.
Before the opening whistle, everyone in the stadium observed a minute of silence, which was accompanied by the song Jedno dne pozašeš. She was immediately followed by thunderous applause and a big ovation from the packed tribune. “We honored a great friend, player and big heart who never left this club and remained loyal to it,” said the moderator of the event and the chairman of the Břeclav club, Alexander Hrabal.

The home team took the lead in the fifth minute. “The goal was scored by player number ten Jakub Pospíšil, aka Ondřej Hollý,” was heard from the loudspeakers in the stadium, which the spectators appreciated with huge applause.
Since Jakub started with the favorite number 10, the referee stopped the match after ten minutes. The actors of both teams stood on the semicircle and, together with the spectators, gave their captain a thunderous applause.

In the end, MSK was happy with a great victory 17:1 over Židenice. The extraordinary match will certainly go down not only in the club’s history, because no youth match in our region, and quite possibly even in the entire Czech Republic, was visited by so many spectators.
