A first in over 150 years! Two Manchester United youngsters reach historic milestone in FA Cup final

The 19-year-old Garnacho scored the lead for United in the 30th minute, shortly afterwards the also 19-year-old Mainoo increased the lead (39th minute).

This is the first time in history that two different teenagers have scored in an English cup final since the first FA Cup final in 1872 – 152 years ago.

At 19 years and 36 days, Mainoo is now the youngest English goalscorer in an FA Cup final since John Sissons, who scored for West Ham in 1964 at the age of 18 years and 215 days.

For Mainoo, it was his 32nd competitive appearance for United’s first team this season (five goals), while Garnacho scored ten goals in 50 appearances.

Mainoo, who made his international debut for England in March, is in the Three Lions’ provisional squad for the European Championships in the summer. Garnacho also has a big tournament to play in, as the attacker has made it into Argentina’s squad for the Copa América.
