he 5th Rainettes du Castel’Bad tournament, organized on May 1 at the Canterane facilities, in Castelnau-de-Médoc, brought together more than 160 veterans who, playing in mixed doubles, ladies and men on 11 equipped courts, contributed to the success of this day. To the great pleasure of the president (for fourteen years!) of the Castelnaudais club, Stéphanie Sardos. “We are very satisfied. This 5th edition brought together a lot of people in a friendly tournament which took place in a good spirit. Well prepared in advance, the various matches were held in good conditions. The finals offered some great winners (see the list opposite). As usual, we gave everyone a warm welcome so that, in relaxation and serenity, the day would be a success. We are happy with how it went, which pleased the majority: it is this state of mind that drives our club. »

With 120 members, 40% of whom are female, Castel’Bad is supervised by three qualified educators, three federal tournament organizers and a referee who, with the volunteer volunteers, create a great dynamic.

Looking to the future

“Our club has the three-star label – École Française de Badminton from the French Badminton Federation,” continues the president. This concretizes our efforts which have been recognized,” the president proudly underlines.

In addition, two projects are planned for the future of the club. “We want to organize, in 2024-2025, a youth singles tournament and, in 2025, during the Badminton World Championships in Paris, we will carry out an intergenerational trip allowing members to strengthen friendly ties. It’s quite a program, but we will succeed! »

For his part, the tournament referee, Mr. Noël André, draws conclusions from this edition: “It was once again a good tournament, in a good spirit, that we experienced in Castelnau. The perfect organization and good welcome contributed to its success. We will come back with pleasure! »
