2nd League: Champion GAK wins farewell

The Graz team confidently returned to the top flight 17 years after being relegated and left nothing to chance at the end. Thorsten Schriebl (37th) and Marco Gantschnig (42nd) gave GAK a 2-0 lead, Niklas Szerencsi reduced the deficit shortly before half-time (45th). After Daniel Maderner made it 3-1 (46th) and David Heindl scored again (56th), a varied match developed in which the home team mainly pushed Maderner. In the end, Lewan Eloschvili (91st) put the finishing touches on the game.

The striker, who was voted the best player of the season, did not score again and ended up in the top scorer list with 15 goals, behind Dario Tadic (St. Pölten) and Deni Alar (DSV Leoben), who each scored 16 goals.

Maderner scores 3-1

GAK wins at home against Kapfenberg 4:2.

DSV Leoben and FC Dornbirn also had to say goodbye to the league, but to the bottom. The two clubs were not admitted and have to go to the Regionalliga. Since no club from the Regionalliga West meets the promotion criteria, there are no relegations in sporting terms. Leoben defeated Sturm Graz II 2:1 (1:0) and finished the season in fourth place.

Ziegl says goodbye to Ried, Vienna still third

Dornbirn lost 0:1 (0:0) to SV Ried and would have been relegated as 14th in the table. The match was also a farewell for the second-placed team. Marcel Ziegl is retiring after 16 seasons with the Innviertel team, the Ried captain was replaced after four minutes in keeping with his shirt number four. As FAC Vienna could only manage a 2:2 (1:2) draw against SV Stripfing, Vienna took third place with a 4:1 (3:1) win against bottom-placed Amstetten.
