More than 1,200 athletes from the 25 federations grouped under the orbit of the Argentine Judo Confederation participated in the tournament. Last weekend the 2024 National Apertura Judo Championship was held at the Carlos Paz Arena Stadium.

The largest event of federated national judo had the participation of more than 1,200 judokas from all over the country, grouped in the Argentine Judo Confederation, including several athletes from Ushuaia.
The Fuegian delegation, headed by Professor Juan Arco, had a very outstanding performance.
The categories that competed are the following: Children “A”, Children “B”, Cadets, Junior, Senior, Kyu Novices and Kyu Graduates.
In the debut in the National Children’s Championships, Judokas Mia Villada had a very good performance, obtaining 5th place and Valentina Gareca also obtained 5th place.
Lucas Avellaneda, one of the greatest promises of the specialty (Triple champion of Araucanía), also competed in the senior category, falling in the semifinals.
To also highlight Santiago Avellaneda who is within the DAR project, with the results obtained, great chances open up for several Fuegian judokas to be called up to the Argentine National Team, who will compete at the end of this year in the South American Championship.
Professor Arcos thanked the families of each of the athletes, the group of teachers who work every day to achieve these results, the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) and the Sports Secretariat of the province.
