2024 Heisman odds: Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck favorites

With just about three months before the new season kicks off, college football bettors are looking at futures markets.

One market in particular that’s getting interest is the race for next season’s Heisman, and Georgia’s quarterback Carson Beck at +800 has moved into pole position as the lone favorite to win the award.

Earlier this year, he was a co-favorite with Texas QB Quinn Ewers at +750.

In 2023, LSU’s Jayden Daniels claimed the hardware. Before the season, his odds to win the Heisman were +1100.

Will another athlete from the SEC take the top honor in 2024?

Let’s dive into the odds.

*odds as of 5/22/2024

First on the board is Georgia’s Beck at +800.

The UGA signal-caller helped lead his Dawgs to an undefeated regular season in 2023. After losing 27-24 to Alabama in the SEC title game, Georgia’s No. 6 ranking kept them out of the final four.

The Bulldogs ended 2023 with a lopsided 63-3 victory over FSU in the Orange Bowl, as Beck finished the season with 3,941 passing yards and 24 touchdowns.

Next on the board is Texas’ Ewers.

The sophomore from Southlake, Texas, finished last season with 3,479 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. Ewers and the Longhorns got into the playoff committee’s final four but lost 37-31 to Washington in the Sugar Bowl semifinal.

Did Michigan winning the national title fuel Ohio State’s offseason success?

Rounding out the top three is Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel at +1000. He’s followed by Alabama’s Milroe, who fell to fourth at +1400 after coach Nick Saban retired and Kalen DeBoer was hired. He was previously +750.

Sammy P.: Watch Fifita and Cam Rising

January is for mining value in the Heisman market. I’m not betting any of the favorites now because those prices will mostly hold steady through the summer.

I’m interested in two longer shots: Noah Fifita (+2000) and Cam Rising (+7000 at time of pick, currently +5000).

It’s undoubtedly Fifita’s show in Tucson going forward, and he has a stable of talented hideouts, led by sophomore Tetairoa McMillan.

Meanwhile, Rising is a longer shot with legs. He threw for 3,000 yards and accounted for 32 touchdowns two seasons ago, but missed all of 2023 after tearing his ACL in the Rose Bowl. Utah should be favored in its first six games and if Rising puts up numbers, those 60- and 70-1 odds will evaporate.
