The Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR) launched its own investigation into the events after Wednesday’s domestic cup final (MOL Cup) between Pilsen and Sparta Prague, when fans of both clubs invaded the pitch. The management of FAČR announced that it has requested detailed documents from the individual organizational units of the match and the executive committee will be informed of the conclusions. In a statement sent to ČTK, the management of the Pilsen club expressed its regret over the fact that some of Viktoria’s fans entered the field and committed riots. At the same time, it informed that it proceeded in accordance with the recommendations and instructions of the organizer, which was FAČR.

After the final whistle of Wednesday’s final, in which Sparta won 2:1 in the Doosan Arena and won the double, the fans of both clubs took to the pitch and had to intervene against them. A few dozen supporters of Victoria entered the pitch first, advancing across the pitch towards the Spartan sectors on the opposite side. Subsequently, Leten fans also entered the lawn.

That’s why there were fights. During clashes, the organizers had to come to the aid of the police and restore order so that the winning trophy could be handed over. The riots also disrupted the broadcasting of Czech Television – chairs for photographers, which were seized by supporters, fell on the improvised studio on the area next to the Spartan sector.

“When organizing the match, we proceeded in accordance with all the recommendations and instructions of the organizer (FAČR) and made maximum efforts in this area. We have repeatedly communicated to the fans that we do not want them to enter the playing field,” Viktoria said in a statement.

“We regret that, despite all the efforts and efforts made, there was violence on the pitch, which does not belong in football and we do not want to see it in the stadiums. At the same time, we perceive that the whole of football must address this so that similar scenes never happen again in the future. And we will take internal steps in this direction also in relation to our fans,” Viktoria added.

The organizer of the domestic cup is FAČR. In a statement, the association informed that the security service first tried to resolve the situation after the match without the active involvement of the police. The security manager then asked for cooperation according to the law on the support of sports at a time when there was a real threat of a mass clash between fans of both clubs on the playing field and there were also other riots.

There were no serious injuries

The management of FAČR immediately after the end of the final started its own investigation of the incidents. “The management requested detailed documents from the individual components of the association that participated in the organization of the match. The evaluation will also take into account the opinions of the Police of the Czech Republic and both clubs. The FACR executive committee will be informed of the conclusions of the investigation, and then the association will also announce the measures taken,” the association said in a statement on Thursday.

According to regional paramedics, no one was seriously injured at the stadium. The police announced that they will also evaluate the incident based on camera footage. The events of the final will also be dealt with by the disciplinary commission of the League Football Association (LFA), which can already start proceedings against the clubs.
