Zion Williamson’s Incredible Performance Cut Short by Injury: A Bittersweet Night for the Pelicans

For more than three and a half quarters, Zion Williamson did what he wanted on the floor against the Lakers. Just in his layups, impressive with his blocks, and brimming with energy, he was within reach of leading his team to victory – the nothing being a sad physical glitch.

How sad. Regardless of the team supported in this Play-in tournament match, it’s hard not to feel immense frustration when Zion heads to the locker room with a little over 3 minutes left to play. The fridge on legs has just scored its 40th point thanks to yet another unstoppable lay-up, and the two franchises look each other in the eye with a score of 95 everywhere.

From the start, Zion Williamson showed that he did not come to take a dip. Even if he is new to the postseason, having never participated in a match past mid-April since his draft in 2019, the interior does not take the time to go through the footbath or get his neck wet. Take a powerful dive into the deep end and splash all the way to New Hampshire. If you don’t know where it is, don’t panic, it’s just far far far away.

10 points at 5/6 shooting to start, and incredible ease in placing his hands around the hoop while bypassing Anthony Davis. If he was a little bothered by LeBron’s defense for a while, that didn’t stop him from scoring as much as he wanted. He tried – initially successfully – at the midrange offered by the Lakers defense, but preferred to opt for big Daron drives. Is right.

In the second half, in a duo with Jose Alvarado who looked more like Jason Kidd, he was the main instigator of NOLA’s comeback. Above all, he showed all his versatility by alternating big finishes with well-felt caviars, while raising the tone defensively.

In Smoothie King Center on fire a few minutes from the end, Zhanos took matters into his own hands against LeBron to block a counter from Saturn. It’s him again with the pass in transition, and Jason Kidd Alvarado’s reel to ignite the Louisianans even more.

Final statistical line: 40 points at 17/27 shooting, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, an interception and a block in 36 minutes. Zinzin.

Everything came together for an All-time evening in the recent history of the franchise. Zion probably drops one of his best career games at the best time… before his body catches up with him. Almost a symbol of his young career: absolutely dazzling on the court, always just as frustrating when he has to leave it. Pels defeat, hangover.

Zhanos collected all the infinity stones, and crumbled into dust before stopping his final snap of his fingers. His presence for the next round of Play-in is for the moment uncertain, as is the exact nature of his injury.
