Yeo’s Goal Leads Liefering to Victory: Weekend Recap of Austrian Second League Matches

Moussa Kounfolo Yeo shocked GAK with his goal in the 38th minute. After the 19-year-old midfielder from Mali, Luka Reischl (57th) also entered the shooting list. Salzburg’s home success in Wals-Siezenheim can definitely be described as deserved; they were already celebrating their third win in a row.

The Graz team, however, dropped points for the second time in a row after the 1-1 draw in the Styrian duel with Leoben. So far this season, only SV Lafnitz (4:1 at home) and FAC (3:1 away) were able to steal three points against the Athletes.

Yeo puts Liefering in the lead

Meanwhile, Leoben was coping hard with the bad news of the initially denied license for the coming season on the field. Moritz Heinrich (27th) and striker Kevin Friesenbichler (44th) made everything clear before the break. The DSV team, recently coached by Carsten Jancker again, overtook the Rieders, who were previously tied on points and who only host Bregenz on Saturday.

Admira deals St. Pölten the next setback

For SKN St. Pölten there was the next setback in the prestigious duel with Admira. This was initiated by a header own goal from Christian Ramsebner (45th). After the break, Admirans Salko Mujanovic (67th) and Filip Ristanic (80th) made things clear at 3-0.

The Südstädter continued their upward trend with the fifth unbeaten game en suite, with four wins. As a reward, they were promoted to Lower Austria’s number one, the fifth-placed team now has two points more than their sixth-placed rival, who left the pitch with their heads hanging after the 3:7 defeat at Vienna.

The Döblingers suffered a 1-0 defeat in a strange game in Dornbirn. Three Vienna players were excluded: Jürgen Bauer (43rd), Anes Omerovic (65th/red each) and Kelvin Boateng (92nd/yellow-red). The Vorarlbergers ended the game with a red card for Mateus Jesus (87th), also decimated in terms of personnel, but their fourth win in a row was no longer in danger in the final phase. Kapfenberg beat SV Stripfing 3-1.
