The swimmer Yasmin Silva, who was the Peruvian flag bearer at the inauguration, won a gold medal this Sunday in the 100 meter butterfly, which allows Peru to accumulate, so far, a total of 41 medals in the I Bolivarian Youth Games Sucre 2024, which are disputed in Bolivia.
Yasmin Silva in the sport of swimming won this Sunday in the 100 meter butterfly. Silva had already won gold in the 50-meter butterfly on Saturday and becomes the top national medalist with two gold medals.
“Thank you all, I have felt good about giving him a gold medal in Peru and that my teammates add medals for the country,” said Yasmin.
This Sunday, Peruvian badminton also won a total of 8 medals: (5 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze).
In the Peruvian delegation, which is made up of 185 athletes, they fight for the medals in the city of Sucre (2,750 meters above sea level), Bolivia.
Among the national figures stand out Cayetana Chirinos (athletics), Fernanda Munar and Namie Miyahira (badminton), Jose Rodriguez (cycling), Mariana Soriano (fencing), Jheysi Paredes (weightlifting), Yasmin Silva (swimming), the U19 team of volleyball floor among others.
This event has competitions in 24 sports and 27 sports disciplines and will bring together 1,500 athletes from seven countries. Peru will compete in athletics, badminton, handball, baseball, road cycling, MTB cycling, boxing, fencing, futsal, gymnastics, judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, Basque pelota, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon, floor volleyball and beach volleyball.
