Yannick Hanfmann is in the round of 16 in Munich

Maximilian Marterer missed a big surprise at the ATP tournament in Munich. The 28-year-old from Nuremberg lost to fifth-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 7:6 (7:5), 6:7 (6:8), 6:7 (3:7). The tough wrestling match on Center Court lasted 3:24 hours.

Marterer missed his great chance to win a match on the ATP tour for the first time since October 2023 in the third set when he only had to give up his serve when the score was 5:2 and did not use his only match point when the score was 6:5 could. The defeat is the eighth in a row in an opening match for the 101st in the world rankings.

Koepfer fails because of Garin
