Xerez CD Baloncesto Femenino Advances to Final Four in National N1 Women’s League

The Xerez CD Baloncesto Femenino played last Saturday, at the Club Náutico Sevilla sports complex, the second leg of the quarterfinals of the National N1 Women’s League with a final result 60-63 in favor of the Xerez team.

The Jerez players take one more step in a match that began with a surprising Náutico, dominating and turning the tie around in the first quarter, giving Emiliano Massarelli’s team a 20-7 lead, which temporarily left Xerez CD out.

The xerecistas return in the second quarter with one more march, with clear concepts and with the lesson learned from the first quarter. They gritted their teeth with great intensity, circulation and great success from the outside, which allowed them to turn the score around and go into halftime with a +5 advantage and a final score at halftime of 33-38.

Emiliano’s team had a plus in the stands, with fans traveling to Seville who gave their all, who did not stop believing in them and did not stop promoting them. This plus and the team play meant that the Seville players did not get closer on the scoreboard, maintaining a cushion of 3-5 points until the end of the game, with a final result 60-63 for Xerez CD Baloncesto.

The MVP of the Xerecista team was Noemí Ugochukwu with a PIR of 20, 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 recoveries, followed by Cheyenne Van Der Linden with a PIR of 11, 7 points and 4 rebounds and Sofía Sánchez with a PIR of 11, 6 points, 6 rebounds and 1 recovery.

Emiliano Massarelli analyzed the match as “very difficult, where we didn’t start well. We had to stay calm, we knew that the Náutico start would be very very intense, but that we would have to maintain the correct pause and wait for the teams to level out.”

The coach also pointed out that “we had the patience and the game we needed to level it out from the second quarter onwards” and he was very happy with qualifying for the Final Four. “Now we must focus on these two weeks of work that we have ahead of us and reach the next objective as best as possible,” he said.

Xerez CD will play the Final Four on May 3, 4 and 5, in a unique venue that has yet to be discovered.
