Women’s Softball Team Dominates Season Opener

Women clearly win the season opener

The Vermins women had their season opening game in Cologne with the Cardinals on Sunday.
Both games were clearly won 15:0 and 15:0.

In the first game, the Wesselinger offense needed until the fifth inning to start the season. Up until then it was 5-0 for the Vermins, but they had already missed a few chances to score more points. In the sixth inning, the women fired a 10-run inning and put their stamp on the game.
The women didn’t have much to do on defense. The pitching around the Volkmann/Kühler battery had the game well under control. A 5-4-3 DoublePlay showed good defensive teamwork as a small highlight.

In the second game, the Vermins’ offense came into play much better. The women were able to deliver a lot of hard hits to the American pitching of the Cardinals. Newcomer Lisa Schwarz in particular was able to score her first Bundesliga hits. Battery Held/Weil didn’t let anything go wrong either and, in combination with the defense, was able to keep the opponents to zero.

With the double victory, the women have successfully started the 2024 season and are now looking forward to defending their title and a new season.
