With an astronomical contract, Doncic could become the highest-paid NBA player of all time as early as next year

The 25-year-old Doncic has made 65 appearances this season, which means he has reached the required number of games to qualify for individual awards and a place in the symbolic teams of the season.

By entering the symbolic “All-NBA” selection of the season, Doncic will qualify for the maximum (“super-max”) contract. The Slovenian basketball player is in his sixth NBA season, but the maximum contract can be signed after the seventh year.

Therefore, in the summer of 2025, Doncic could sign a maximum contract for five years for a salary of 346 million US dollars (approximately 322 million euros). It would become the largest contract in NBA history.

Doncic could become the first NBA player to earn $70 million a season.

Currently, Kristaps Porzingis’ teammate Jalen Brown has the biggest contract in NBA history, who agreed on a five-year, $304 million contract with the Boston Celtics last year.

It is expected that “Celtics” leader Jayson Tatum could agree on a contract of about 338 million with “Celtics” this summer, which would surpass Brown’s contract, but Doncic would become the league record holder next year.

The leader of the Dallas “Mavericks” agreed with the team on a salary of five years and 215 million dollars in 2021. Doncic’s salary this season is 40 million.

Doncic averaged 34.0 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.8 assists in 65 games this season.

This season, the Slovenian basketball player is the leader of the NBA regular championship in average points per game, as well as the third best in assists.

With 45 wins and 29 losses, the Mavericks are in fifth place in the Western Conference standings and are close to making the playoffs.
