The most important spring sports event in our latitudes is approaching – in two weeks, the world hockey championship will start in the Czech Republic. The Latvian national team will go to two important test matches in Switzerland, where Martins, the son of the legendary defender Rodrigo Laviņš, will try to prove himself. Unlike his father, he plays in the forward position, besides, he is studying at a college in the United States and has his eye on the dream of all players, the National Hockey League (NHL). This summer, the 21-year-old and full of energy hockey player will be evaluated by one of the most legendary NHL clubs.

Rodrigo Laviņš once played 226 games in the Latvian hockey team – this is a national team record that will be difficult for anyone to beat. This spring, his son Martins made his debut in the team, who also scored the first goal in his second match against Austria on April 5. Week after week, several key players have joined the Latvian national team, but Laviņš is still with the team, and has now also gone with it to Switzerland, where two test matches are scheduled for Friday and Saturday. “In 2014, I went with me to the world championship in Minsk, I was 11 years old.
