What happened to Sulley Muntari? From the Triplete to the workshops

Looking at the palmares of Sulley Muntari you simply remain speechless. Two championships, an Italian Cup, a Super Cup, a Club World Cup. He is also there on the magical chessboard ofInter of the Tripletthree and a half years with the Nerazzurri colours, with almost 100 appearances and 8 goals.

A career that blossomed inUdinesethen passed through Sunderland e Milanbefore the classic end-of-career wandering: Al Ittihad, Fishing, Sporting The Crown, Wholesaler, Hearts of Oak, in Ghana. And now what? What does Muntari do? The answer is far from obvious.

From the ghost goal to new life

Retracing the history of Muntari is impossible without going through February 25, 212, the evening of ghost goal against Juventus by Antonio Conte. There is something more at stake than the three points. There is the championship, or at least a good part of it. Muntari hits the ball with a header, when the score is still 1-0 for the Rossoneri. Buffon takes it but the ball has already crossed the goal line. Muntari rejoices but Wind cutter does not validate. Moral of the story? Matri scores the equalizer and puts the tricolor in the freezer. “I still haven’t been able to give myself an explanation – says the Ghanaian midfielder – That lost scudetto and the fact that I didn’t end my career at Milan are my biggest regrets.”.

But it was precisely in the Italian years, the highest years of his career, that Muntari began to show off his great passion: cars. Possibly eccentric, flashy, fast. As the Lamborghini in camouflage version or the SUV Mercedes Supercharged G-Class. Strange but true, but his present is precisely in this sector.

Muntari and the dream of becoming a mechanic

There are dreams and dreams. For someone who won the Treble and raised the Cup with his ears, dreaming big is useless. Something small, but authentic, is enough. So Muntari had a simple wish: open a workshop in your country. “I don’t need to go on TV to feel good – tells – I have a couple of car dealerships, but do you know how I look? Mechanic, one of those with greasy hands, messing around under cars”. And that’s how he does it. Before signing the contract with Hearts of Oak he opened a workshop. He also did it in Como, in 2016, with 4FKMotorSport, a workshop specializing in luxury cars.

A normal life, a quiet job, away from the spotlight and interviews. Face to face with his passion. After all, is there anything better?
