While several municipalities canceled their outdoor play day on Wednesday due to the predicted bad weather, the Wetter edition will simply move indoors. “It’s fortunate that we have such a large sports hall,” says the alderman.
The Outdoor Play Day is an initiative of the Flemish government and should encourage children to play outside. The youth channels Nickelodeon, Ketnet, Kadet, Studio 100 Tv and VtmKzoom will not broadcast programs.
Normally the Wetterse edition takes place on the Markt, but this year it was planned on the De Warande sports and recreation domain. It would be an Olympic Outdoor Play Day. But due to the predicted bad weather, she moves indoors.

“We have the luxury of having a large sports hall,” says youth councilor Dietbrand Van Durme (Eén). “We can use both the old and the new sports hall. Fortunately, because a lot of animation companies, such as bouncy castles, would cancel if bad weather was forecast. Everything is going ahead as planned.”
Beach volleyball?
Hockey, athletics, badminton and gymnastics therefore take place indoors. Only the planned beach volleyball is in jeopardy. “If the weather were still good, it might still take place outside,” the alderman said. “But the chance is small.”
All participants in a sport go home with a medal. “We’re not going to be strict about that. All children are more than welcome.”
The Outdoor Play Day will take place on Wednesday, April 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the De Warande sports complex.
