Warriors Fall to Kings in Playoff Push: Boxscore Recap

Sacramento Kings (W9) – Golden State Warriors (W10) 118:94 (BOXSCORE)

For the Warriors, only Curry reached normal form with 22 points (8/16 FG), Klay Thompson, the second splash brother, was completely disappointing (0 points, 0/10 FG). The Dubs shot just 41 percent from the field, allowed 15 offensive rebounds and recorded 16 turnovers. Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody each put up 16 points off the bench.

This is the third time Golden State has missed the postseason in the last five years.

The Kings’ best players were Keegan Murray (32 points, 8/12 3FG) and De’Aaron Fox (24), center Domantas Sabonis (16, 12 and 7) missed a triple-double. The 24-year-old guard Keon Ellis also stood out for his excellent defense against Curry (15 points, 3 steals, 3 blocks).

“Finally getting over that hurdle is what we’ve talked about,” Murray said of the Warriors, who defeated the Kings in the first round of the playoffs last season. “It was kind of clear that we would meet them again. But we still need a win for the playoffs.”

In the play-in tournament, the Kings will now face the New Orleans Pelicans, who had previously lost their home game 106:110 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The winner of the game on Saturday night will face the top seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the first playoff round. Although the Kings lost all five direct duels against the Pels in the regular season, they may have to do without the injured Zion Williamson.
