The eleven-time champions from Tyrol only lost one game in the league this season, but in the cup the East Styrians prevailed in a direct duel.

With a 3-1 win over Aich/Dob in the best of five in the semi-finals, the Tyroleans secured their second place in the final in a row. It was the new edition of last year’s final. Hartberg defeated Waldviertel 3-0 in the semi-finals.

Two Tyrolean victories in three season duels

In the league, Tirol suffered its only defeat against Aich/Dob, otherwise the defending champions led by coach Stefan Chrtiansky are undefeated. The 23 league wins also include two wins against Hartberg, but the Styrians won the semi-final in the cup at the end of December 3-1.

Coach Markus Hirczy’s team is also in good shape otherwise, having won all of their last five league games. Only in the cup final was there a defeat against Aich/Dob, which prevented Hartberg from winning its third title.

After the first game on Wednesday, the second duel takes place on Sunday. The earliest the winner could be decided is April 20th, game seven and thus the latest possible decision is scheduled for May 1st.
