Coach Vietnam U-23 Hoang Anh Tuan gave arrogant comments after the win over Kuwait in U-23 Asian Cup 2024.

Vietnam U-23 successfully defeated Kuwait U-23 in the inaugural Group D match of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

In the match held at Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah, Wednesday (17/4), Vietnam won with a score of 3-1.

Despite winning convincingly, Vietnam U-23 coach Hoang Anh Tuan boasted that his team had not played at their best level when they beat Kuwait.

“The opponent is nothing special. The problem is we didn’t play according to the level we have,” said Hoang Anh Tuan, quoted from Many.

In this match, Vietnam took the lead in the 45+1 minute through Nguyen Van Tung’s goal.

Then Kuwait responded in the 45+9th minute with a penalty which was executed by Al Awadi.

In the second half, Bui Vi Hao successfully scored two goals in the 47th and 76th minutes to give Vietnam a 3-1 win over Kuwait.

This victory made Vietnam lead the Group D standings with three points.

“The first thing I want to convey to the players is to forget about this match. The whole team needs to prepare mentally and physically for the next match,” said Hoang Anh Tuan.

“In this match we started with a tense mentality so we didn’t show well what we had practiced. I’m very sorry about this. The red card was also very unfortunate, I didn’t want that to happen at all,” said Hoang Anh Master added.
