Aachen. The “third” of the SUA begins in the imperial city with victory and defeat. A homegrown player remains undefeated in all four matches.
The judoka started as newcomers in the major league Sport-Union Other III into the new season. There was a 4:6 defeat against Osterather TV, but coach Manuel Neumann’s team deservedly defeated the Aachen host TSV Hertha Walheim II 7:3.
“Overall it was absolutely fine. We are competing with a very young team. “We were also missing a few people on the first day of the fight – so we couldn’t vary much,” said Neumann. In the upper league there are only five weight classes, with two duels per category. Against that TV Osterath SUA’s own Alexander Schnackenberg (-81 kg) scored twice, one point each went to Renat Hyrskyi (+90 kg) and Artem Dashudin (-73 kg). “There was certainly more to it, but we are newcomers – you shouldn’t expect too much,” said the SUA coach.

Things also went really well for the active members of the Annen Sports Union German Over-30 Championship. In his age group, Michael Hertlein (-60 kg) took the national crown and won his two fights. In addition, the tournament, which was held in the Arena at the Nürburgring and offered the participants a spectacular backdrop, ended with third place for Benedikt Wagner (-81 kg) and also with bronze for the Annen team starter Julian Becker (+100 kg; BSG Benninghausen /Lippstadt).
