Verlinde Reacts to Derksen’s Controversial Statement: “You are called a rotten fish”

There was a lot of commotion after the broadcast. Verlinde was not grateful that Derksen’s statement was laughed at. “You are called a rotten fish,” he says.

Verlinde says she disagrees with Derksen’s statement. “I don’t think you should talk like that about people who live here. And whether they were born here or not, if they are here then they belong.”

But Verlinde does not want to comment on whether it is racism or discrimination. He does say that he was kept awake by the accusations that he was a racist. “All my life, it has been my top priority that everyone can participate.”

However, next time he will join the SBS6 program again. “I’ll come back there one day and I’ll undoubtedly say something about it.”
