The Valonsadero Badminton Club swept the U17 Autonomous Championship, managing to win four of the five events held in its first season in the category.
Hugo Sanz and Irene Gárate were the great protagonists at the San Roque Sports Center in the Valladolid town of Tudela de Duero by achieving a double victory in the men’s singles and men’s doubles events, together with Noel Romera, and women’s singles and women’s doubles, together to Gaza Africa, respectively.
Brilliant performance by Noel Romera and África Gazo themselves who, to their gold in the doubles event, together added the runner-up position in mixed doubles, losing in the third set of a disputed final. Miguel Pérez also excelled with a double runner-up finish in men’s singles and men’s doubles with Ian Antón. A total of 11 medals, 6 gold and 5 silver, which continue to confirm the volantistas trained by Carlos Palero as the best quarry in regional badminton.
This week the group has already resumed training with its sights set on the U17 National Master that will be held on April 20 and 21 in Montilla (Córdoba) and on the upcoming international trips framed in its participation in the European Badminton Circuit.
