In tennis, finishing is certainly one of the most difficult missions to accomplish. Even more so when you carry a heavy French past, as is the case with Valentin Vacherot.
The start of Valentin Vacherot’s season is not to be shown in all tennis schools in France. Indeed, the Monegasque has won no less than three tournaments on the Challenger circuit. We might as well tell you that the 25-year-old had absolutely nothing to do on our page. And yet.
Unstoppable 🙌@val_vacherot extends his perfect start to the year at 14-0 in main draw wins, marking the longest win streak to start a Challenger season since 2017!#ATPChallenger | @msltatennis pic.twitter.com/0t2PNkzvV5

Vacherot, an example for the French-speaking world.
Despite a start to the season far from our standards, Valentin did not give up and redoubled his efforts to attract our attention. Before entering the Bucharest tournament, Valentin Vacherot suffered two eliminations in the first round, in San Luis Potosi and Monte-Carlo. In short, a more than positive dynamic before lining up for the Romanian tournament. And it must be said that his loss of confidence came at the right time in Bucharest.
Opposed to Marton Fucsovics, the Monegasque and the Hungarian must decide in the tie-break during the first round. If the set is disputed, the decisive round is absolutely not. Vacherot wins the first 6 points and leads 6-0. He only needs one point to transform the try. Fortunately for us, he will be inspired by Thomas Ramos to accomplish his mission.
The Monegasque screws up his 6 set balls with panache. And as is very often the case in these cases, nothing follows behind. Valentin lost 10-8 in the tie-break, and 6-2 in forceps in the next round. Wouldn’t we be looking at the most beautiful tennis choke of this year?
