Værløse Badminton Shines at Badminton Denmark’s UDM Event

Badminton Denmark held the UDM in Brøndbyhallen at the weekend. Værløse Badminton picked up a string of medals. August Muurholm played his way to a silver medal in U13 men’s singles.
The Youth Championships in Badminton was a fine tournament for Værløse Badminton, it did not result in gold medals, but instead a total of four silver medals and three bronze medals.
Among the youngest in U13, August Muurholm lived up to his seeding as number two. He won a close match over his doubles partner in the round of 16, but won clearly in the quarter and semi-finals. The year’s supreme number 1, Marvin Jakob Galan Mogensen, Jernløse, was however too strong in the final.
Tristan Norup Benedictus and partner Holger Giehm Madsen, FIKF, surprised in the men’s doubles, where they played to the final. Here, too, Marvin Jakob Galan Mogensen stood in the way together with partner Emil Fejsø.
Værløse Badminton’s great hope for gold, Elias Martin, retired in the men’s singles semi-finals at 20-20 in the second set. He thus had to settle for bronze medals in men’s singles and men’s doubles.
In U17, Mikkel Eilersen Bouet reached two finals, but lost in singles to Frederik Hinding and in the mixed doubles final together with Filippa Pedersen to Aske Rømer Roslyng and Jasmin Rasmussen.
Robert Nebel only competed in the U19 men’s doubles. Here it was a bronze medal together with Mike Vestergaard.
Værløse Badminton fielded many players at UDM. Astrid Kruse, Sophie La Cour, Oliver Kock Grove, Louise Bille-Biggart, Maja Toftgaard, Thea Molander-Kragh, Gustav Bech Rasmussen, Isabella Christensen and Clara Amalie Hegelund Bruun were also at UDM.
