US Futures Rise as Chinese Stock Exchanges Closed for Holiday – Focus Shifts to US Labor Market Report

They followed rising US futures. There was no trading on the Chinese stock exchanges due to a holiday.

The attention on the stock markets is already focused on the US labor market report on Friday. “Today there are the initial applications for unemployment assistance, which provide a final indication for the official labor market report, which is scheduled for tomorrow,” noted the economists at Hessische Landesbank Helaba.

“The number of initial applications has remained at a very low level for weeks, so there is no indication of a slowdown in employment growth.” However, the consequences of a robust US labor market for the interest rate outlook in the USA are likely to remain manageable. “In the last few days, the interest rate cut expectations have already been corrected, also because the central bankers made rather cautious statements,” Helaba continued.

The Japanese leading index Nikkei-225 XC0009692440JP9010C00002 closed 0.81 percent higher at 39,773.14 points. However, he didn’t quite catch up with the previous day’s deliveries.

In Australia, stabilization was cautious. The S&P/ASX 200 XC0006013624 gained 0.45 percent to 7817.34 points. The Judo Bank Purchasing Managers Index continued to improve in March. Things also went up in South Korea, while the Indian stock exchanges were little changed.
