The Paralympic judoka of the J1 category (blind judokas), Henry Borges, made history this Monday when it was confirmed that he is in fifth place in the world ranking and will therefore enter his fifth Paralympic Games.

After having participated in Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021, the Uruguayan will reach his fifth games in Paris, surpassing the record of any athlete, both Paralympic and Olympic.

“They are those nice things that statistics give us and I would become the athlete with the most Paralympic and Olympic Games, representing Uruguay. Until someone catches up with me, it adds to the statistic, to the little head and I think it is a tremendous achievement,” the athlete confessed to Ovación in the month of March.

Until now he was tied in participations with the athlete Andrés Silva, the sailor Alejandro Foglia and the cyclist Milton Wynants who had attended four Olympic Games each.

Additionally, the athlete announced that Paris 2024 will be his last participation in the Paralympic Games. “I started judo when I was 9 years old and I have been representing Uruguay in the Paralympic arena since 2003. I have been representing the country for 20 years and I believe that staying at this level is an achievement. I am aware that it is my last game and I am grateful for the way I have preserved myself. That’s why I continue to get results,” he assured.
