Umbertide Celebrates Salvation with Victory Over Futurosa Trieste in Final Game

It’s Umbertide celebration. Pfu rules Trieste with a crazy fourth period and despite Vicenza’s success in Roseto, celebrates a well-deserved salvation! Thus ends the season for Staccini’s team, who after a difficult first round turned around in the return, closing the regular season with 24 points achieved, just two points away from the playoff zone.

Umbertide: Pangalos, Stroscio, Gambelunghe, Baldi, D’Angelo
Trieste: Camporeale, Carini, Sammartini, Miccoli, Ostojic

NEWS – First quarter which sees the two teams respond blow for blow. Umbertide starts everything with Pangalos leading his teammates to an initial 12-4. Futurosa counter-reply with Miccoli (12-8), while Ostojic and Camporeale mend the break at 18-17. All guest brand final with Sammartini scoring the 23-24. The second period is also balanced, with the two attacks scoring very little: Baldi and D’Angelo stand out, making it 33-29 at halftime. In the third quarter Trieste changes gear and after having mended thanks to a super Ostojic (39-37), overtakes with Miccoli and Sammartini at 41-43. It’s Sammartini again who punishes PFU by scoring the score 41-47 while Tempia’s triple is worth the plus nine. Scarpato and Pangalos limit the damage, at the thirtieth minute it’s 46-50. In the last quarter, thanks to the news arriving from Roseto, Umbertide immediately gets back into contact with Pangalos and Gianangeli for the minus one. Ostojic pulls the Trieste players back (49-55), but an immense Pangalos catches Futurosa again and scores the score 56-55. Thus we enter the last five minutes with the two teams alternating in command. Baldi’s 1/2 is worth yet another tie, when he enters the last two laps of the clock at 63-63. The ball starts to get hot but Stroscio takes cover of the match, finding a triple of vital importance for the 66-63. Mura calls a timeout, Lombardi doesn’t find a basket on his return and the subsequent free throws by Stroscio and Pangalos earn the final credits. Umbertide remains in A2 by winning 69-63.
